Christmas Breaks at the Midland
The Midland Hotel provides the perfect setting to enjoy a very special Christmas and New Year.
This iconic Art-Deco building has been lovingly restored, with many original features from its glamorous heyday sitting comfortably alongside its chic interior design, and many of the 44 boutique-style rooms boasting truly spectacular views across Morecambe Bay.
Programme of Events
Thursday 23rd December
Following a very warm welcome, relax and unwind in our restaurant and enjoy an informal cheese and wine tasting with head chef Adrian Fenton and our very own wine connoisseur Gemma Hayward. Then join us for a 1930’s-inspired dance master class. This evening Matt Stanaway, General Manager, and the rest of the team welcome you to the evening’s celebrations with a champagne and canapé reception, with our resident pianist then playing you through a sumptuous four course candlelit dinner.
Christmas Eve – Friday 24th December
Following a hearty Lancashire breakfast, sit back and relax to the sounds of our Brass Band playing traditional Christmas Carols. Then, enjoy a full Midland afternoon tea before joining our concierge Brian Jenkins for a glass of bubbly and a fascinating tour of this internationally renowned modernist masterpiece. The evening then begins with a champagne and canapé reception, followed by a 1930’s-inspired dinner dance with our ever popular resident jazz band. Local parish churches welcome the community and visitors alike for midnight mass, and a warm glass of mulled wine awaits your return to the hotel.
Christmas Day – Saturday 25th December
Begin with a celebratory glass of bucks fizz, a visit from a particular seasonal visitor, and a full Lancashire breakfast, before taking part in our festive treasure hunt. Then return to a four course traditional Christmas Day lunch with all the trimmings, followed by the Queen’s Speech with Christmas cake and tea. A light but sumptuous buffet will be served later on, before the annual Midland Christmas Quiz, with fantastic prizes!
Boxing Day – Sunday 26th December
Join us for a very leisurely brunch (served until 11am).
Then perhaps enjoy some seaside air, join us back at the hotel for tea and homemade scones before taking your seat for a traditional Christmas pantomime, just a very short stroll away from the hotel. This evening we welcome you to your final candlelit dinner, and a ‘Night at the Races’, with fantastic prizes for the best owners…and luckiest gamblers!
Monday 27th December
Following another hearty breakfast, we must unfortunately say our goodbyes to those of you not wishing to take advantage of our special preferential rates to extend your stay, as you leave us with our very best wishes in the hope of having the pleasure of welcoming you back to The Midland in the very near future.
